If you rely on cooling towers for your industrial operations, you can't afford to have the system fail. However, that can happen without close attention to maintenance and repairs. Unfortunately, many business owners don't know how to identify cooling tower problems, which can increase the risk of malfunctions. Cooling tower malfunctions can lead to work stoppages and costly repairs. Malfunctions can also increase the risk for accidents and injuries. Before you're faced with those issues, read the list provided below. If you're experiencing any of the issues described below, it's time for an inspection. Your cooling tower may need to have parts replaced.

Out-of-Control Energy Bills

If you have a cooling tower on your industrial property, and you're worried about a malfunction, start monitoring your energy bills. Cooling towers help to prevent overheating inside your industrial complex. If the cooling tower isn't operating properly, your industrial air conditioner will need to pick up the slack. When that happens, your energy bills will go through the roof. If this is happening, it's time to call for an inspection. Your cooling tower may be in need of repairs, which might require replacement parts.

Signs of Visible Damage

If you're worried about your cooling tower, now's the time to conduct an exterior inspection. You can tell a lot about the condition of your cooling tower by inspecting the exterior. This is especially true where the support grids are concerned. Your cooling tower functions through a system of grids, which are designed to hold the fill in place. When the support grids are damaged, the fill won't function properly. If your support grids show signs of visible damage, such as corrosion or cracks, call for repairs right away. Without replacement of the support grids, your fill might warp or sag. If that happens, your cooling tower will no longer provide efficient cooling.

Improper Water Flow

If your cooling tower isn't functioning properly, it's time to take a close look at the water flow. You might not know this, but for proper cooling, water should flow evenly through the tower. If there's a problem with the fill, water can't flow evenly through the towers, which interferes with proper cooling. If you're dealing with improper water flow, there's a good chance that the fill has been compromised. If that's the case, you'll need to replace the fill as soon as possible.

Don't take chances with your cooling tower parts. If you're dealing with any of the problems listed here, it's time for replacement parts.
